Pigeon Pose

Opens the outer hip after hours of sitting.

Pigeon Pose, floor position

60s each side hold · floor

Front shin forward, back leg long. Sink the hips.

  1. From all fours, bring one knee forward behind that wrist.
  2. Angle the shin across and slide the back leg straight behind you.
  3. Lower onto your forearms, or stay tall on your hands.
  4. Let your hips settle and your breath slow.

Tips: Flex the front foot to keep the knee safe. Keep your hips level and pointing forward.

Easier: Slide a cushion under the front hip for support. Lie on your back and cross the ankle over the opposite knee instead.
