The morning routine skips the forward folds
Toe Touch opens most morning stretch lists, and it is not in ours. The discs in your lower back take far more bending stress in the first hour after you get up than they do later in the day. So First thing has no toe touch and no seated fold in it. The first reach of the day goes up, and the folds wait for later. More in why you wake up stiff.

Routines stay short on purpose
Shoulder Rolls open Desk reset, and three minutes later it is over. Range of motion gains level off after about four minutes of stretching in a session, and after about ten minutes a week for any one muscle group, so a longer routine does not buy you more. Most of ours run a few minutes, and Desk reset is built to be taken more than once a day.
Posture takes strength work too
Prone T Raise is one of the floor holds in Posture and strength, where you lift your chest and arms against gravity. Across 23 controlled trials, strengthening moved posture, most of all in the neck and upper back, and stretching on its own did not. So the two routines that say the word do both in one session: Posture and strength opens standing with neck stretches and ends on the floor with the loaded holds, and Bring those shoulders back is built the same way. Where a routine is stretching alone, we leave the word off it.
Happy Baby got a gentler default
Happy Baby used to ask you to hold your feet. That is the deepest version of the shape, and when your hips run out of range the pull can land in your lower back. One of us felt exactly that in a session, and the movement was rewritten the same day. The hold is now behind the thighs, the feet come later as a step up, and it came out of Wind down, because bedtime is the routine most people try first and a first session should be all easy shapes.

The bar for everything else
That is the standard for every routine in the app, not just these four. When a study changes our mind, the routine changes, and this page changes with it.
